These Terms and Conditions apply to ‘Newspaper Home Delivery Subscriptions’ and ‘Digital Subscriptions’ which comprise the following types of Subscription products to Northern Star: Newspaper Home Delivery; Unlimited Digital; Weekend Home Delivery plus Unlimited Digital; and 6-day Home Delivery + Unlimited Digital.
If you have selected a Subscription product containing both a Newspaper Home Delivery Subscription and a Digital Subscriptions (“Bundled Subscription”), both the Newspaper Home Delivery Subscription Terms and Conditions and the Digital Subscription Terms and Conditions, as set out below, will apply. If you have selected a single Subscription product only (i.e. Newspaper Home Delivery Subscription or Digital Subscription, but not both) then only the Terms and Conditions relevant to that product, as set out below, will apply.
Newspaper Home Delivery Subscription Terms and Conditions
Newspaper Home Delivery means the delivery of Northern Star newspaper to your specified residential address. Newspaper Home Delivery is only available if you live within our normal delivery areas. For information on normal delivery areas or delivery outside these areas, please contact Subscriber Services Team.
We are unable to deliver newspapers to post office boxes. Delivery to office buildings or addresses within secured apartments is subject to delivery capability. Our Subscriber Services Team will contact customers if a delivery cannot be achieved and the customer will be offered a refund or have the option to switch to a Digital Subscription.
You may not purchase Newspaper Home Delivery Subscriptions for other persons or as gifts using the online service. Please contact our Subscriber Services Team in such circumstances.
You may be charged for days that your selected newspaper is not published (e.g. Good Friday and Christmas Day) and/or days when newspapers are not distributed due to circumstances beyond our control (e.g. in some cases of rural delivery). In such instances we will apply the credit for these papers to your next subscription payment period. APN will process and start your Newspaper Home Delivery Subscription within 5 business days of receiving your completed order.
We may change our Newspaper Home Delivery Subscription Terms and Conditions from time to time. You can find the latest Terms and Conditions at www.northernstar.com.au/subscriptions/terms/ and should check them from time to time to ensure you are aware of the most current Terms and Conditions.
Digital Subscription Terms and Conditions
A Digital Subscription provides you with unlimited access to Northern Star website, m site, mobile and tablet apps as well as Northern Star digital print edition.
Your Digital Subscription will commence immediately on receipt by us of completed subscription details, including payment details. Confirmation of acceptance will be provided to you via your nominated email address.
You must have a valid login account to www.northernstar.com.au to have a valid Digital Subscription.
Each username and password is assigned to a single user and is not transferable. You must ensure that your username and password remain secure and are not shared. If any misuse is detected your Digital Subscription may be terminated and you will not be eligible for a refund. You are responsible for all use, activities and charges associated with your username and password.
Your Digital Subscription may be used for non-commercial purposes only.
Newspaper Home Delivery Subscribers who have Northern Star newspaper home delivered 6 days a week and pay for their subscription directly to APN are eligible to receive a complimentary Digital Subscription which will provide unlimited access to Northern Star website, m site and mobile and tablet apps. If you cancel your Newspaper Home Delivery Subscription your complimentary Digital Subscription will cease on the same day.
In order for an eligible Newspaper Home Delivery Subscriber to activate your complimentary Digital Subscription, you will first need either to complete an activation form online or contact our Subscriber Services Team to assist with this.
We may change our Digital Subscription Terms and Conditions from time to time. You can find the latest Terms and Conditions at www.northernstar.com.au/subscriptions/terms/ and should check them from time to time to ensure you are aware of the most current Terms and Conditions.
APN reserves the right to modify the content, inclusions, type and availability of any digital product at any time. In the event your subscription package changes, you will be given notification prior to when you would need to make a decision to cancel your Subscription and not be affected. If you do not notify us that you wish to cancel your Subscription, then your package will change automatically from your next billing cycle.
We reserve the right under special circumstances to enable free access to our subscriber content for a limited period of time. During this time you will not be eligible for a refund.
If any or all of our digital products are temporarily unavailable, you will not automatically be entitled to receive a refund. We reserve the right to issues refunds or credits at our sole discretion. If we issue a refund or credit, we are under no obligation to issue the same or similar refund or credit in the future.
For avoidance of doubt if you are unable to access our services due to problems not related to our service or Northern Star then you are not eligible for a refund or credit of any nature.
Pricing, Payment and Taxes
All pricing for Subscriptions include GST unless otherwise specified. Subscribers acknowledge that APN may amend Subscription pricing from time to time and will provide prior notice to you. Any new pricing will take effect from your next billing date. You may cancel your Subscription due to the price change by following the steps set out below.
All payments must be by credit card, direct debit or on receipt of an APN invoice. Subscriptions will be charged for periods of four (4) weeks at a time and must be paid in advance of each 4 week billing period. APN accepts American Express, Visa and MasterCard. We can continue to process your payments after the original expiry date of your credit or debit card.
Subscribers are responsible for ensuring their credit card details and bank account details are correct. Changes to credit card or bank account details can be made by contacting our Subscriber Services Team on 1300 36 16 04 or emailing email@example.com .
Direct debit payments are bound by the Direct Debit Request Service Agreement as provided.
If a Subscription payment fails, we will re-attempt payment several times before contacting you to rectify. In such circumstances your Subscription will continue for a grace period of 7 days after which time we will cancel your Subscription. If you are under the age of 18 you require consent from the credit card holder to authorise charges to be made.
Where your Subscription is for a specified plan period or a fixed term with regular, periodic payments (with or without a further term on the same or different terms) then the total price that you will pay is the total sum of all regular periodic payments throughout the specified plan period or fixed term (plus the relevant price for any relevant further terms prior to cancellation being effected). APN will not change the pricing for a plan period or fixed term subscription during that fixed term.
Suspension and Redirection
You cannot suspend your Digital Subscription.
Newspaper Home Delivery can be suspended for a maximum of 84 days in a single suspension. For suspension and/or redirection please contact our Subscriber Services Team on 1300 361 604 or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. Redirections and suspension may take up to 5 working days to process.
Subscribers will not be charged for the period of the suspension. Newspaper Home Delivery can be redirected to another address. Redirection of your Home Delivery Subscription will be subject to deliverability.
Subscribers on a Bundled Subscription can suspend their Newspaper Home Delivery but still access their Digital Subscription as long as payments are not suspended during this time.
Renewal and Cancellation
Newspaper Home Delivery Subscriptions will automatically renew and continue unless cancelled by either party. You may cancel your Subscription at any time by contacting our Subscriber Services Team on 1300 36 16 04.
Any Newspaper Home Delivery Subscriptions or Digital Services cancelled mid-subscription period will continue until the end of the current paid subscription period.
If you cancel your Digital Subscription or Bundled Subscription before the end of a prepaid Subscription period, the cancellation will become effective at the end of your current prepayment period.
APN reserves the right to suspend or cancel a Subscription without liability immediately: (a) if you breach of these Terms and Conditions; (b) if we no longer deliver to your area; or (c) for any other reasons subject to 5 days prior notice.
Cancellation of your subscription may take up to 5 business days to be processed. During this period you may receive newspapers that are published between the date of termination and the lead time required to cease delivery.
If your subscription is for a fixed term with regular periodic payments throughout the term then you may not cancel your subscription prior to the expiry of the specified fixed term (so for example, where your subscription requires a payment every 4 weeks for 52 weeks then you may not cancel your subscription to take effect before the expiry of the first 52 weeks).
You agree that any errors made in entering your contact information and order details are your responsibility and APN is not liable for any consequences that may arise as a result of such errors or incorrect information, including but not limited to sending the Subscription to the address as notified by you.
To the extent permitted by law, APN is not liable to you for any loss or damage incurred by you in connection with your Subscription, whether direct, consequential, special, indirect or other loss or damage and APN's maximum liability to you is limited to the value of the subscription fees paid within the previous twelve months.
We reserve the right to reject any Subscription order or purchase at any time.
APN may offer Subscription promotions which are subject to terms and conditions in addition to these Terms and Conditions.
These Terms and Conditions prevail over any inconsistencies with any promotional or trial terms and conditions.
