Zumbathon to break Aussie record

GOONELLABAH Sports and Aquatic Centre is aiming to break an Australian record for attracting the highest number of people to attend a Zumbathon as part of an ‘Our Kids’ fundraiser later this month.

Group Fitness Coordinator, Alyce Weight, said the record was set a few months ago with 359 people attending a Zumbathon in Queensland.

“We are hoping a minimum of 360 people will come along to the Zumbathon Charity Event, dance their hearts out, cheer loudly, and help us raise money for an important local charity,” Ms Weight said.

“The will be six local zumba instructors teaching amazing dance routines throughout the one and half hour event, all set to loud Latin and hip hop music. It’s a great cause, it will be a great work out, and it’s sure to be loads of fun.”

The Zumbathon Charity Event will be held on Saturday, July 23 at the Goonellabah Sports and Aquatic Centre.

Registration is at 3.00 pm and the Zumbathon gets underway at 3.30 pm.

The cost for adults is $15 per ticket presale and $20 at the door.

The cost for children is $10 per ticket presale and $15 at the door. Tickets can be purchased at GSAC reception.
