Zookeeper recovering well after pinned by elephant

THE Sydney zookeeper crushed by the baby elephant she was training has been sent home from hospital.

Lucy Melo received critical chest injuries when she was pinned against a bollard at Taronga Zoo by the male elephant known as Mr Shuffles two weeks ago.

The 40-year old was released from the North Shore Hospital late Tuesday and is believed to be recovering well.
