Zoella fans on rampage as tabloids body shame their idol

A HORNET'S nest has been stirred up online (so just another day then?) after the British tabloids wondered what sort of example famed blogger "Zoella"  was setting for her young fans by posing in her underwear online.

The Daily Mail and Sun UK ran an image from the 25-year-old online superstar's Snapchat account showing her in a white shirt and black knickers with the caption 'Zzz' and 'goodnight x'.

The Mail ran the image under the headline, "Zoella posts a VERY revealing selfie of herself in bed wearing just her underwear - but not all of her fans are impressed".

The tabloids said fans were up in arms about the "daring" image.

Zoella herself posted a response on her Twitter accounts saying she was "brimming with love" at the support of her fans.

"I hope one day we will live in a world where promoting self love & body confidence won't be sexualised or shamed".

Now fans have hit back under the "WeStandWithZoe" hashtag on Twitter, posting images of themselves and slamming the tabloids who called out their favourite star.

Her mostly female (and occasionally male) fans are posting images of themselves in their gym gear, underwear, and in various states of undress in solidarity with Zoella.

One even warned younger teens - under the age of 16 - not to post revealing images of themselves because "safety comes first".

The hashtag has now been used in more than 36,700 tweets.
