YUCK: Another reason not to swim in the river right now

Dead sheep in Condamine River at Warwick

AS IF you needed another reason to stay out of the Condamine River after this week's waste spillage near Queens Park, but here it is.

A photo taken earlier this week by Jason Daley and posted to the Warwick Information Facebook page clearly shows a dead sheep lodged in the weir at Scots College.

The sheep has either since dislodged and floated downstream or been removed.

This location is upstream from all of the spots where locals and recreational river users frequent our waterway.

Council have already warned against swimming after Monday's waste spill and report it could be next week until the river is deemed safe to enter.

Children were seen swimming in the river on Tuesday but this is not advised.

This reporter certainly spent many Warwick summers in the 1990s swinging out of trees into the Condamine and understands the appeal at this hot time of year, but it seems at this stage, it would be in the best interests of the public to stay out.
