Coming in second was Tim Burton's dark, fantasy comedy about Jack Skellington who is bored with Halloween and tries to take over Christmas by kidnapping Santa Claus, called The Nightmare Before Christmas.

In third place it was a three way tie.

One was the romantic favourite Love Actually which follows the threads of numerous different people's lives and how they survive one particular Christmas.

From a young boy dealing with the loss of his mother and the discovery of his first love, to the British Prime Minister who also discovers love, the movie cleverly captures the connections between all the people involved with a Yuletide backdrop.

Miracle on 34th Street, a Christmas classic and beautifully animated Polar Express, which both deal with themes of doubting the Christmas spirit, were also in third place
