Your summer snap could be worth $579!

IT'S SUMMER, so let's celebrate.

Today we open our annual reader photograph competition - and we're desperate to give a feature-packed Nikon Key Mission 170 camera, worth $579, to one lucky reader.

Simply take a photograph that best expresses what summer means to you and send it to us. Could it be any easier?

Last year, Ballina teenager Georgia Wheatland won our competition with this picture (at right), titled Dive into Summer.

Our judge, Northern Star photographer Marc Stapelberg said: "The photo fits the criteria of the competition by showing a vibrant, energetic and exciting image that invokes the sense of summer.

"The sense of the local area, Julian Rocks, the boat and people, and the colour all draw the viewer in and the energy is infectious.”

Over the duration of the competition, we got hundreds of pictures and some were so good they made the front page. Can you get there this time?

Get your camera, or your phone, out and get snapping.

You can enter by our website, or via email at northernstar.com.au/iamsummer or news@northernstar.com.au
