Your say: “Tony’s time is over”

FOLLOWING the shock departure of Jamie Briggs and Mal Brough, yesterday some Tony Abbott supporters were saying he should be brought back into Malcolm Turnbull's ministry.

The discussion began when former employment minister Eric Abetz, a political ally of Mr Abbott, said the former prime minister should be considered as part of a government reshuffle.

However, when we asked readers of The Northern Star what they thought on our Facebook page, the overwhelming response was that no, he shouldn't.

"Is it April fools? You had your shot at the title Tony time to hang up the gloves," Nathan Luke said.

"No, just no, Tony's time is over," Garin M. Knudson said.

"No. He should retire gracefully. They should look at the mess Gillard created by allowing Rudd back as a minister," Tony Photiou said.

"Tony Abbott is best to keep his Mouth shut.so people will think he is intelligent. Because when he opens it they realize he is a fool," David Delaney said.

"They brought back Kevin Rudd -- why bring back another pompous DUDD?" Kelvin Frost said.

"No way whatsoever. He was the worst prime minister in Australia's history. Kick him out altogether, please, for the sake of the country," Leslie Eastlake said.

Look, no-one has a suppository of wisdom on these issues. If Tony says it, then those far right are bat-poo crazy brave enough to do it," Allen Whistler said.

However, one commenter was in support of an Abbott return.

"Yes, he should not have been ousted in the first place," Colin Chevalley said.

"He had guts and common sense. Our present PM has just done absolutely nothing apart from commit money that our country doesn't have. Memories of past Labor governments."
