Our baseball "Energiser bunnies" build skills with top match
FNC's young baseball guns have been tipped to come back firing after rubbing shoulders with the country's best young players.
FNC put in a decent display at the Australian Little League Championship, winning two of their five games.
Twenty teams from across the country contested the event.
Coach Scott McClelland said his players had put in a fully committed display.
"They were running around like Energiser bunnies on the final day," he said.
"They were playing the best in the country so I'm sure they will come away better and stronger players.
"I've had a really enjoyable time - I want to stay here! It's been a good few days and we've had a great time."
FNC secured wins over Alice Springs and Newcastle to finish 15th overall in the carnival at Tallebudgera Valley on the Gold Coast.
McClelland was impressed with the quality on show from the mainly 12- and 13-year-old players.
"The standard has been very high," he said.
"One of the pitchers for Perth didn't have a throw - he had a cannon.
"When we beat Newcastle (in the last match) it was like winning the grand final for us. The guys were delighted."
Meanwhile, senior and junior FNC players will be action in club games at Albert Park in Lismore tomorrow.
