Young stars rise

GOOLMANGAR Public School students have been showing their creative talents, with a recent production of Wind in the Willows.

Siobhan Towers was very convincing as Toad, while good friend, Talisa Mayshack-Mendero narrated Kenneth Graham's classic.

Since Year 1, Siobhan has played Snow White; Gretel; Tinkerbell in Peter Pan; and the flower girl in Oliver Twist. "Because our teachers like to challenge us, I was given the role of the mischievous elf, Puck, in Midsummer Night's Dream," the 11-year-old said.

"That was so much fun.

"I'm also a member of Theatre Theatre under Angela Mitchell.

"I am currently in the role of Alice, in Alice in Wonderland."

Talisa, an accomplished musician/singer, is in youth band Scarecrow Garage.

The talented musician had only learned piano for three days, before successfully playing Beethoven's Für Elise.

Talisa is also quite proficient playing the guitar.

She began singing at preschool and performs at venues and functions, including the Bangalow Choir Fest.

"I go to our studio in Myocum on weekends and sometimes on Friday afternoons," Talisa said.

Even at just 11, both girls are looking to the arts for their futures.
