BRUNSWICK Heads Youth Theatre will present two original plays this weekend:
The first one, Aliena Mundi, has been developed and will be performed by the 10 to 14 year-olds in the acting troupe, and the piece is about their take on the world of social media.
The 5 to 9 year-olds will present An Unusual Adventure, a play based on their favourite books (think Magic Faraway Tree meets The Tiddlers).
The company's creative director and Brunswick resident, Ollie Heathwood, said the company has been operating for the last two years.
Ms Heathwood, who used to live in Lismore, has 20 children in the company, aged from 5 to 12.
"I do a very holistic thing, I am a trained speech and drama teacher so my main aim is to teach them to be very confident and capable at expressing their ideas and thoughts, to be creative and to be able to work as part of a team" she said.
"I only have one rule in my group, and that they should always be kind, because if they don't learn their lines it's not kind to the other actors.
"And you will always speak encouragingly to others so people always feel safe to try new things, as I want them to explore any ideas they may have without fear to look stupid."
The weekend shows will offer two productions each night.
"First the little kids will do their show and then the older children are doing theirs, with an interval in between," Ms Heathwood said.
