Young dogs to line up for semi's
FOUR semi-finals of the Renzo Park Star Maker over 520 metres are the highlight of an interesting program of greyhound racing at Colemans Point in Lismore tonight.
In the opening semi, which is the toughest of the four, some promising youngsters will do battle for a place in the final next week.
That’s Just Me, a newcomer from Brisbane, was impressive in his all-the-way heat win in the good time of 30.22 seconds for owner/trainer Karen Grimley and is nicely drawn in box two.
Hardest to beat should be Winston, an all-the-way 30.45s heat winner, and Duke Onyx, which ran second to That’s Just Me in his heat.
In the second semi, Tiger Sing Man looked impressive in winning his heat in 30.35s and has drawn the weakest of the semi-finals on paper.
Fine Display did just that when she scored an emphatic 30.19s heat win and appears certain to qualify for the final for Kevin Etchell.
In the last of the semi-finals tonight, Minus Two Below, from the astute David Irwin kennel, was the fastest qualifier of the eight heats in taking out his event in 30.15s.
He has drawn well in box two.
The $15,000-to-the-winner final will be run next Tuesday.
