Young BMX riders take on the Kiwis

NATIONAL pride goes on the line at Casino this weekend when Australia hosts New Zealand in the annual Trans-Tasman BMX Test.

The Mighty 11s is a fast and furious two-wheel clash for Trans-Tasman supremacy.

Dean Nommensen of Casino BMX Club said the youngsters took their representative honours as seriously as anyone.

“They will be going hell for leather – they don’t hold back,” he said. “They are racing for national pride. Age doesn’t come into it.”

The series has been running for 22 years and some names on the cup have gone on to be Australian champions and Olympic representatives.

Up to 200 riders from all over Australia and New Zealand are expected to attend this weekend, with racing to get under way at 12.30pm today and continue tomorrow at the Casino BMX track, Crawford Square, South Casino.
