THE much-anticipated second river crossing at Grafton is a step closer this week with the release of an animated concept design of the proposed project.
Costing $15,000, the animation was developed by Roads and Maritime to help inform the feedback about the new bridge across the Clarence River.
A RMS spokeswoman said the animation was a useful tool to assist the community to visualise the completed design.
"Similar animations have been developed for other Pacific Hwy upgrade projects and for other major road projects in NSW such as the Foxground to Berry bypass," she said.
An environmental impact statement and concept design for the new bridge is now on exhibition.
The environmental impact statement provides the community with a detailed description about the project, how it might be built and mitigation measures that would be put in place to help manage adverse impact.
Senior project development manager Adam Cameron encouraged community members to view the report and provide comments to the Department of Planning and Environment before the closing date of September 19.
The next community update will be provided following responses to the EIS submissions report.
A name for the bridge has not yet been decided.
