'You are not welcome Tony' after calls during dinner time

IT WOULD appear many Capricornia, and even some Flynn, voters were not impressed to receive phone calls during dinner time recently.

The Bulletin asked readers via Facebook earlier today if they had received any of the automated phone calls from political parties, and if so, which leader was it.

As of 2pm, there were over 70 comments with most saying Liberal National Party Leader Tony Abbott and quite a number said they either hung up on it or it went to voice mail.

A number of people also commented that they are on the Do Not Call Register, but one person did point out later that political parties were exempt from the rules of this register.

Victoria Muller said she was insulted that the message said 'This is Tony Abbott'.

"It would have been much better to start the call by saying 'good morning/afternoon - this is the voice of Tony Abbott...," she said.

Ms Muller admits she was one of the many people who hung up on the automated message.

And Cassie Charles says she's received three calls from the Opposition leader so far this election.

Kathy Johnston Kerr felt it was a bit much after all the letters from the leaders in the post this week.

Susie McPherson was upset a letter was addressed personally to her father who has been dead for 15 years.

Rochelle King-gee says it is all a waste of taxpayers money.
