Pirates from Dan Murphy's get in on festival action
ARR, me hearties, there's been plenty of interest in pirates after our treasures recently.
The Jolly Roger was flying out Lennox way when the cast and crew of the Pirates of the Caribbean rolled their cameras. And now the swashbuckling crew at Dan Murphy's have got in on the action.
But these are pirates with a difference - maybe it's the Irish of Murphy they have inherited.
Rather than plundering, the Dan Murphy's crew will be sharing their loot with all who desire the riches they hold.
Dan Murphy's is once again the major sponsor of the Ballina Fine Wine and Food Festival organised by the Rotary Club of Ballina-on-Richmond.
At this year's festival to be held on July 12 at the Ballina Jockey Club, Murphy's pirates will be showcasing spiced rums.
Kim Layton, the manager of the West Ballina store, said spiced rum was a growing category.
It's rum typical of the Caribbean, with spices like cinnamon and vanilla added.
"It's beautiful," Kim said.
The Dan Murphy's crew will be holding appreciation sessions during the festival so you can learn more about the spirit.
But, me mateys, you need not fear the spirits of the pirates - they won't be forcing anyone to walk the plank if you don't get on board.
Tickets to the over-18s festival cost $20 and are available online at the festival's website or at Tonic Hair and Beauty in River St, Dan Murphy's in Ballina and Lismore and at Southern Cross Credit Union at Ballina Fair.
The festival will be held from 11am to 5pm.
