Xavier Rudd latest support act for Bentley protesters
SINGER-songwriter Xavier Rudd yesterday joined the list of recording artists visiting and offering entertainment at the Bentley blockade.
It was Rudd's first visit to Bentley. "We decided to visit now as I am about to travel to Dubai (today) and this is a very important issue," he said.
Rudd is also considering writing a song on the anti-gas movement for his next album.
The artist's Bentley performance was supported by fellow singer-songwriter Bobby Alu, who has toured North America with Rudd.
Xavier Rudd is a one-man band who typically has three didgeridoos in front of him on a stand, a guitar on his lap, a stompbox by his feet, plus an assortment of drums, banjos, harmonicas, bells and a bass guitar.
Socially conscious themes are a signature of Rudd's music, with spirituality, humanity, environmentalism and the rights of Aboriginal people regular song topics.
