Wright is on track

FORMER Lennox Head surfer Tyler Wright has replicated some of the form that saw her take out the Roxy Pro in France last year.

Wright advanced to the semi-finals of this year's event after securing a winning ride the last 30 seconds of her quarter-final against Johanne Defay.

She finished with a score of 16.33 (out of a possible 20) after netting a 9.50 on her final wave.

"I had a feeling at the start of the heat it was going to come down to the last minute," Wright said.

"A little wave came along and you can't say no to a wave in that situation.

"It shut down, so paddling back out Johanne looked at the second one and I sort of pushed her into it.

"I'm really stoked with how I handled the end of the heat and I'm just stoked to make the semi-finals."

There is one more event on the World Championship Tour with the Target Maui Pro in Hawaii next month.

Her older brother Owen Wright and Lennox Head surfer Adam Melling surfed in the men's Quiksilver Pro event which runs in conjunction with the Roxy Pro.
