Dancer’s choreographed creation watched on world stage

BALLET teacher Helen Graham has been chosen to choreograph a contemporary routine to be performed on the world stage in one of the most prestigious international competitions, the Genée, being held in Sydney this year.

It's a dream come true for her, but she has been given just three days to do it. She hasn't started yet.

"I haven't decided on the music yet either," Ms Graham said.

"It's the most important part because it's the music that touches the audience.

"For me choreographing all happens once I am (in the studio) and each movement can flow on from the next."

Dancer Tahlia Downey flies into Gladstone on Monday and leaves on Thursday, freeing Ms Graham up to focus on the next challenge; the launch of her own dance studio when the school year starts.
