World-class make-up artist to teach at Aussie TAFE
KINGSCLIFF TAFE will welcome a talented make-up artist this semester.
Elisa Stefanovic is a renowned specialist makeup artist who has worked on many famous films and productions over the past 20 years.
"My experiences within the industry opened an opportunity to move into film and television where I worked on productions such as Peter Pan, Spartacus, Power Rangers and I made wigs for Matthew Maconaughy, Geoffrey Rush and Tommy lee Jones," she said.
Initially Ms Stefanovic, who happens to be the sister of a well-known TV journalist Karl Stefanovic, trained as a hairdresser but quickly saw the importance of being multi skilled within the industry.
She went on to include makeup artistry to her skills and followed on by securing a wig making apprenticeship with Opera Australia.
This lead to a very successful career as the key makeup artist for the Sydney Opera House where she worked on Baz Luhrmann's production of La Boheme, and other famous productions like Madame Butterfly and Sweeny Todd, and theatre productions such as Mary Poppins, Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera and Cats.
Through her hard work and determination Elisa excelled in her field and was rewarded with a position with Opera Queensland as Makeup co-ordinator.
Ms Stefanovic will take up her position at Kingscliff TAFE in July.
She will teach a Diploma in Specialist Makeup at Kingscliff campuses' new state of the art salon.
"I am so excited to be able to share my experiences, knowledge and ability with my students and hopefully inspire them to turn their dreams to reality, like I have done over the last 20 years," Ms Stefanovic said.
Head teacher of Hair and Beauty Betty Rensink said she was excited about Ms Stefanovic's arrival.
"To be able to offer such a unique and specialised course run by a teacher of Elisa's calibre is a major asset for students wanting to break into this field," she said.
