Workman crushed by bull dozer

A REPORT will be prepared for the Coroner following the death of a man after he became caught in a bull dozer on a property in Tyalgum, west of Murwillumbah yesterday.

Emergency services were called to the property shortly after midday where they located the body of a 68-year-old man next to a bull dozer down a large embankment on the property.

Witnesses told police the man had been operating the machine when he got out and left it idling while he spoke with other workers at the property.

As he got off, the bull dozer began to creep forward, gaining momentum. Police believe the man attempted to get back onto the machine when he became caught, travelling some distance before crashing into the embankment.

The man sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.

Investigations continue.
