Workers need to improve to get the better of Rous

FAR North Coast Softball resumes at Lismore's Albert Park today with Rous Hotel to do battle with Workers Condorsin Division 1.

Rous is second on the points ladder, while Condors have struggled to put a regular team on the field and will be out to make amends heading into the finals.

For Rous, Val Dowse, Sharon Hinds and Sheryl Nilon will be hard to contain.

Workers must crack the bat early and remain tight in the field to overcome their opponents.

Club honours will be on the line when Byron Whitesox play Byron Redsox.

Whitesox at full-strength are a formidable side led by Shannon Knapp and Tracey Johnson, and should prove too strong for Redsox, particularly in attack.

However, Rhonda Cheeseman and Erin Nolte will fire up their team for a club battle that could go down to the wire.

Competition leaders Dodgers Devils will tackle the third-placed Workers Turkeys.

Turkeys boast an experienced backbone led by Tina Austen, Crystal Walker and Lynette McDonald while newcomer Maddy Austen continues to shine.

Devils have been able to rely on a steady rotation of players stepping up to the mark when required.

In their previous encounter Dodgers staved off a late challenge and they will be keen to ensure more consistency with the bat today.

In Division 2, a top-of-the-table clash between leaders Goonellabah Lotto and Dodgers Demons looks an even match-up.

Goonellabah are experienced and patient, grinding out their wins by making their opposition put bat to ball.

Demons' younger players will be looking to surprise their more experienced rivals with consistent pitching led by Lanni Winker-Harding to catcher Sara Hoffman.
