Workers FC Anzac Cup hopes caught in a field of Thistles

HOLDERS Lismore Workers face a tricky confrontation with cross town rivals Lismore Thistles when they meet at Richards Oval in Football FNC's Tursa Employment and Training Anzac Cup.

The two teams meet at Richards Oval tomorrow night in an important clash, with both seeking to progress further in this year's competition.

After two good wins so far, Thistles will seal their place in the cup semis as long as they avoid losing by an improbable six-goal margin.

But Workers need a win to avoid their semi hopes hinging on winning by a big margin in their final game against Stars next Tuesday and relyting on goal difference to get through.

One other match will be played in the competition on Tuesday night, with Italo Stars hosting Casino.

The match is effectively a dead rubber, with both sides experiencing contrasting fortunes in this season's competition.

Casino has already wrapped up a place in the semi-finals for the first time in 24 years, while Stars are out of contention after the 7-0 loss to Thistles last Friday.

Both games kick off at 8pm.
