Words of wisdom weaved in works

ONE of our own locals is exhibiting her artistic talent at the Platypus Gallery in Casino until Monday, March 5.

'Illuminating Words' is the latest solo exhibition by calligraphy artist Vanessa Crisp, of Evans Head.

"To explore the different stages in one's life is something I will cherish for a long time as I have learnt far more about myself by doing this body of work than through any other experience in my life," Vanessa said.

Australia Day Ambassador

Vanessa has recently returned from her Australia Day ambassador duties in Lithgow and Portland and is a proud Australian.

She is well known for creating a series of Australiana prints including The Legend of Gallipoli for the 90th anniversary of the Gallipoli landing and a print to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Ned Kelly's death titled Such is Life.

When not involved in the Australia Day ambassador program or creating remarkable pieces of work, Vanessa is involved in the creative arts as owner and curator of the Paperbark Gallery of Evans Head and busy with her graphic design company Butterfly Sign and Graphics.
