Woodenbong revs up family fun

ALWAYS promoted as an extraordinary family event, Woodenbong now has the proof.

At the weekend's Woodenbong Trail Ride, run by Ray Buchanan of Australian Dirt Bike Adventures, and sponsored by Yamaha, 138 juniors, aged 4 to 16 years, registered to ride, along with a capped number of 500 senior riders.

These are stunning results for this recognised, and prized, signature event, which has set the benchmark for all others.

The juniors' area is organised and exciting. It offers opportunities to the kids that would not be available to them in any other situation.

Woodenbong turned it on with a hugely successful weekend, with the showground turning into tent city with more than 1000 visitors.

These numbers mean the whole community benefits.

Woodenbong Progress Association supports and organises the event, and with many, many hands-on volunteers, the village goes all-out to supply food and refreshments and necessary support to the visitors.

Woodenbong was blessed by rain on Thursday, which settled the dust and made riding conditions.

There are three trails which range to 60km, catering for all levels of riders from pee-wee to full bikes and quads.

The event is strictly monitored, trails are swept for safety and has a no rego, no ride policy.
