Women watched on as girls were circumcised: court

FOUR women accused of watching on as two little girls were subjected to genital mutilation at the hands of an Islamic sheik, have fronted court.

The women, aged 39, 68, 73 and 77, were allegedly present when the young sisters, aged 6 and 7, were circumcised at a Parramatta home.

They were charged with accessory after the fact to female genital mutilation.

On Thursday, all four cases were adjourned until February 7 next year when the four other co-accused, including the victims' father who is a Sydney doctor and his wife, are also due to appear in court.
