Women to shine at Goonellebah

THE role of women in our communities will be celebrated at a free International Women's Day event being hosted by Lismore City Council, Mirrung Ngu Wanjarri and TAFE NSW at the Goonellabah Sports & Aquatic Centre on Thursday, between 11am and 2pm.

Lismore Mayor Jenny Dowell said there were hundreds of thousands of International Women's Day events held around the world every year, and they represented an opportunity to join in a global web of activity in celebration of women.

"Our event will feature fascinating presentations by leaders in our community, a short film, an outstanding Aboriginal Women's Art Exhibition, a musical performance by local Lismore singer, Mish and a free light lunch," Cr Dowell said.

"I invite women, men and children to come along and help celebrate the contribution that women make to our community every day."
