Women flash at library
'FLASH' is a great word for fashion writers as it can mean so much - a flash-in-the-pan collection, flash mobs of catwalk rangers, or the classic flash which really has little to do with clothes.
But my latest chance to use the word is a little more dignified than that.
From the start of November, the State Library of Queensland will host a new exhibition entitled FlashWomen which celebrates Queensland Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander style and the strong, proud and vibrant 'Flash Women' who define it.
Sandra Georgiou, a Nunukal/Mulunjarlie woman with a background in fashion and modelling will be sharing her personal story and life's journey on the opening night in the hope of improving the self-esteem and image of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young women.
Entry is free and no bookings are required.Read more at brisbanetimes.com.au
