Women face court over alleged assault and kidnapping

TWO women appeared in court today charged with the alleged assault of another woman in Coffs Harbour at the weekend.

Both women were charged with wound person intend to cause grievous bodily harm, take person intend serious indictable offence and larceny.

At about 1am yesterday, a 34-year-old woman was allegedly forced into a vehicle by four people - two men and two women - on the Pacific Highway in Coffs Harbour.

Police were told she was assaulted with knives while being driven around the local area.

It will be alleged the woman was taken to a home in Coffs Harbour, where she was unable to leave.

Coffs Clarence Local Area Command officers attended and commenced inquiries.

The woman was released and taken to Coffs Harbour Health Campus where she received treatment for a cut to her forehead and foot, swollen face and facial injuries.

Crime scenes were established at a local housing estate and a Coffs Harbour residence.

Following initial investigations, two women, aged 28 and 30, were charged yesterday by Coffs Clarence Detectives.

Two men aged 33 and 25 attended Coffs Harbour Police Station at around 11.30am today.

The men were later arrested and are currently assisting Detectives with their inquiries.
