Women and girls take centre stage

THE Alstonville club will host its fourth annual Oceania Cup female only soccer tournament this weekend.

The tournament - the only one of its kind in New South Wales - will involve teams from 12 years up to open women in an 11-a-side format.

Each team will get a minimum of five 50-minute games over the two days.

Organiser Matt Wiltshire said: "Our club proudly supports girls and women's football on the North Coast.

"This year we are excited to welcome 36 teams, including teams from Sydney, the Gold Coast and Brisbane, as well as teams from local clubs.

"We are looking forward to a weekend of fun and participation to finish off the season."
