Woman suffers suspected neck injury in Byron surf

EMERGENCY services have been called to Byron Bay's Belongil Beach following unconfirmed reports a woman had injured herself in the ocean.

A NSW Ambulance spokesman said paramedics were called to Belongil Beach at 2.05pm after unconfirmed reports a woman had suffered neck injuries in the surf.

When paramedics arrived they found a woman, believed to be in her 20s, suffering suspected neck injuries.

Witnesses at the scene believe the woman may have injured herself in the surf.

Spinal injury precautions are being taken by paramedics who are treating the woman.
