Woman in hospital after Brisbane axe attack

A MAN who allegedly attacked a woman with an axe at Wishart last night is expected to face a Brisbane court on Monday.

Police said that at around 9.15pm a disturbance occurred at a Mahina Place address between a man and a woman known to each other.

It will be alleged the man left briefly before returning armed with an axe handle with which he struck the woman on the arm.

The 38-year-old Wishart woman was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment of a deep wound to her arm.

A 51-year-old Wishart man has been charged with grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court.
