Woman held by throat night of fatal king hit, court told

IT was not former Rabbitohs captain Craig Field, but his mate Shaun Fathers who was being aggressive the night cattle farmer Kelvin Kane was killed by a king hit at the Kingscliff Beach Hotel, the Lismore Supreme Court has been told.

Field is being charged with the murder of Mr Kane over the king hit on July 15.

However, Lauren Grainger, who was at the pub with Mr Kane that night, said she understood it was Fathers who had been aggressive toward her friend, Lyn Burger.

Ms Grainger said during the evening, Ms Burger came from the bar where Field and Fathers were sitting, appearing upset.

"She came out at on stage quite stressed and said she had been held up by the throat against a wall," Ms Grainger said.

Prosecutor Lee Carr asked who allegedly did that.

Ms Grainger replied "Fathers."
