Paramedics rescue an elderly woman from the wreckage of her car after it struck the van in the background near Crabbes Creek yesterday.Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter

Woman flown to Tweed after crash

A 69-YEAR-OLD woman was injured when her car struck a van then crashed into a guardrail near Yelgun around midday yesterday.

The Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter attended the accident, which occurred at the junction of Crabbes Creek Road and the Tweed Valley Way.

The woman’s sedan struck anolder model Ford Econovan Maxi with Victorian plates, which was handpainted in purple and black.

The victim was airlifted to Tweed Hospital after sufferingabdominal and other injuries in the collision.

No other information was available last night.
