Woman cut from car after it rolled

A WOMAN was trapped for an hour in an overturned vehicle after it rolled off the Pacific Highway yesterday.

The 22-year-old and her 73-year-old father were travelling north towards Brisbane in the early hours of the morning when their black Holden hatch back left the road at Sleepy Hollow.

The man removed himself from the vehicle, but his daughter remained in painful confinement.

Emergency services were alerted about 5.40am and police, paramedics, firefighters and the Tweed District Rescue Squad rushed to the scene.

Paramedics advised the woman, from Sydney, to be cut from the vehicle for her own safety, in case of a neck injury.

A NSW Ambulance Spokeswoman said the man suffered shoulder and chest injuries while the woman suffered chest and abdominal injuries.

The pair were taken to The Tweed Hospital in a serious condition.
