WITH spring finally arriving, cricket season cannot be far away.

Casino is about to be overrun with cricket-playing students as more than 200 girls and boys from the Richmond Valley region take part in the Casino District Junior Cricket Association Milo T20 Blast School Gala Day this Friday at QE Park.

Milo T20 Blast is fast, fun, quick, active, energetic and dynamic - everything kids are looking for in entertainment. It's an exciting new era of junior cricket across the North Coast ensuring cricket is a sport for all.

There will now be a clear pathway for kids to transition from school cricket to club cricket as Milo T20 Blast (for 8-12 year olds) bridges the gap between Milo In2cricket (for 5-8 year olds) and traditional club cricket (12 years plus). The program introduces primary-aged girls and boys to real games of T20 in a fun, inclusive and action packed environment where kids can develop the skills learnt from Milo In2cricket and build their passion for Australia's favourite sport.

Regional development manager Dave Szumowski, is excited for the future of cricket on the North Coast and how the Milo T20 Blast program can help build passion and grow the game in the Richmond Valley communities.

"I think it's clear that cricket is a sport for all and has broken away from the perception of being a long and boring game played only on hot weekends," he said.

"Milo T20 Blast School Gala Days have been a hit with children for several years and it is evident that this fun and exciting format with coloured clothing and music makes the kids look and feel like they are playing exciting games of T20 cricket, just like their T20 heroes.

"Parents also love it because it's shorter than traditional cricket with the possibility to be played any day of the week and as well as being professionally delivered there is no need to buy any equipment".

Casino DJCA Milo T20 Blast School Gala Day is on Friday, September 12 at Queen Elizabeth Park, Casino, 9.30am to 1.30pm.

Schools participating include Manifold, St Mary's, Stratheden, Urbenville and Casino
