Willoughby grabs sixth spot

SAM Willoughby is the top seeded Australian heading into the the quarter-finals of the men's BMX time trial at the London Olympics.

Willoughby grabbed the sixth spot with a time of 38.496, seven hundredths of second behind to ranked rider, Dutchman Raymon van der Biezen.

Willoughby's compatriots Khalen Young (17th) and Brian Kirkham (22nd) finished outside the top 10.

The quarter-finals begin on Thursday (London time).
