Wildcats' Lisch on bench for All-Star game due to injury

A GRADE two groin strain has ruled Perth Wildcats star import Kevin Lisch out of Saturday's NBL All-Star game in Adelaide.

Last season's MVP would have started as a guard for the South team after receiving the third highest number of votes by fans out of all the players in the competition.

Wildcats head coach Rob Beveridge said he was disappointed for Lisch, but hoped he would recover in time for the next club game.

"He hasn't been able to train all week - now we're just focusing on getting him ready in time for our December 30 game in Sydney," Beveridge said.

Lisch's absence will open the door for Melbourne Tigers import Jonny Flynn to join the starting five.

The former NBA player with Portland and Minnesota last week confirmed his agent had been contacted about Flynn being on a short list of players who could potentially play some game time at the LA Lakers while star guard Steve Nash is sidelined with a broken leg.

Star New Zealand Breakers guard Cedric Jackson, also set to play for the South All-Stars, is also believed to be on the Lakers' short list.
