Wild Turkey gets caught

A WOMAN was caught by police at Tabbimoble yesterday after being stopped by Highway Patrol, giving a positive breath test, giving a false name and then being found to have 12 outstanding warrants.

Around 3.45pm yesterday a 26-year-old QLD woman travelling south in a Grey Holden Commodore with the registration plates 'WILD TURKEY' failed to pay for petrol at Woodburn.

Police were called and with the help of some truck drivers (utilising their UHF radios), police were able to locate the Commodore on the Pacific Highway at Tabbimoble.

Police have said they pulled over the car, and on approaching the vehicle, found the driver seated in the drivers seat chewing on raw cane sugar.

She was breath tested, found to have a positive reading and taken to Lismore Police Station.

After giving police a false name she eventually divulged her identity and with a ping of the system it was revealed that the woman had 12 outstanding warrants, police said.

The woman was charged with 16 offences ranging from High Range drink driving, 12 warrants and dishonesty offences and was refused bail.
