Wiggles' feminine touch
MOVE over Dorothy, there's a new lady in the Wiggles camp.
Emma Watkins has graduated to the role of Yellow Wiggle alongside fellow Wiggles backing dancers Lachlan Gillespie and Simon Pryce.
The line-up change was announced yesterday after media speculation surrounding a press conference planned for Sunday.
Blue Wiggle Anthony Field is the only original member who will remain with the group.
Greg Page, Murray Cook and Jeff Fatt will hang up their skivvies at the end of the year, but not before embarking on a farewell tour with Field and the new members.
Page only rejoined the group last year after his battle with dysautonomia forced him to leave the group in 2006.
"We've been entertaining children around the world for 21 years and it's important that we plan for the future so that The Wiggles can keep wiggling in the years to come," Cook said in a statement.
Kylie Minogue was made an honorary Pink Wiggle in 2009 but Watkins is the first woman to join the group full time.
The Wiggles farewell tour is expected to start in Australia at the end of the year before heading to the US, UK, Canada and New Zealand.
