Why so serious? Let Pigs entertain you

THEY describe themselves as Beyoncé with a banjo, the Hillbilly INXS and the country Powderfinger.

The Pigs, known for taking modern pop songs and covering them in their unique blue-grass country style, are indeed all these things and more.

The Sydney five-piece will bring their entertaining brand of live entertainment to Lismore later this month when they perform at North Coast National as part of their spring tour.

"We're a family band. Pig is our last name," band member Stretch Pig said.

"Some songs are just plain funny, others are originals people can dance to. We try not to take ourselves too seriously, it's all about the entertainment."

Over their 12-year career as a band The Pigs have played all over Australia, and are well-known regulars at the Gympie Muster.

"We'll be playing some old songs as well as songs from our new album The Pigs' Home Brew," Stretch said.

"It's all got a country, bluegrass flavour, but it's for everybody."
