Why fires keep starting at major Coast showroom
Foul play is being looked at as a possible factor in the second fire to spark up at a prominent Coast showroom in the past six months.
Emergency crews were called to the building, which was leased by New Age Caravans, at Old Maroochydore Rd in Kunda Park just after 6pm on Wednesday.
A firefighter at the scene said crews had extinguished the remnants of an inflatable advertising on the roof of the building before any major damage occurred.
A police spokeswoman on Thursday said it appeared some twigs and an old pallet had been on fire.
She said all fires were treated as suspicious and the possibility the fire had been deliberately lit was being considered.
It comes after crews were called to the same building just after midnight on February 24.
They were also able to put out a fire on that occasion before it took hold.
The building is owned by a company directed by Peter O’Keeffe.
According to the website for Narangba-based OKG Property Management, Mr O’Keeffe’s family owns “a very large portfolio of properties spanning across houses, units, commercial premises, service stations and vacant land”.
