GOONELLABAH Aldi enthusiast Bob Wells is so keen on Aldi he wishes he could have a tunnel connecting his house to the new store, which opened this morning.
Mr Wells has been at the head of the queue waiting for the doors to open since 7am today - although he says he checked on it during his morning run at 5.30am - and was the first through the doors when the quirky German supermarket giant opened at 8.30am.
Mr Wells, who checked in on the store at 5.30am and started the queue at 7am, had plenty of company.
By the time 8.30am there was a long queue of people stretching the length of the carpark with trolleys at the ready.
Mr Wells says he has been a fan of Aldi since discovering the store in Germany years ago.
"They are good," he said. "They're good value. I'd love to buy shares but it's a family company, so what can I do?"
Mr Wells says he's just taken up bicycle riding and hopes to pick up a selection of cycling paraphernalia from the store.
"I'm going to get shorts, shirts, socks, gloves, pump, the works."
Mr Wells says he's so keen on Aldi he'd like to have a tunnel running direct from his house and a private entrance to the store.
