Bulldogs fan loses Grand Final bet - Rabbitoh what a feeling
THE red on Ballina butcher Troy Daley's face is almost the same shade as the stripes on his South Sydney Rabbitohs jersey.
The avid Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs supporter thought it was a fate he almost avoided - up until the last 10 minutes of Sunday night's NRL premiership grand final.
"It was good until the last 10 minutes. enjoyed the game until the last 10 minutes," Troy said.
"(After that) I was just waiting for the phone to start and it started straight away."
The owner of Daley's Gourmet Meats in Wigmore Arcade made a bet with long-time Rabbitohs supporter, Shaws Bay Hotel owner Brendan Byrne, that the supporter of the team that lost would wear the other's colours all yesterday (when Troy returned from the grand final).
Troy said his "former friends" had decorated the house in Rabbitohs colours for his return.
And the customers have been giving him grief too.
"I love your top, it really suits you," one customer said, smiling.
"I've copped a hell of a lot of grief from customers (and) the phone hasn't stopped since Sunday night."
Brendan said his opponent had a "smile on his face" when he received the red and green jumper this morning.
"Customers were queuing up to take happy snaps," Brendan said.
"Someone's got to lose at the end of the day, and Souths have lost more than their share."
