Whitby stars in Breakers’ wins

JAMES WHITBY scored 82 points in two days to deliver Ballina a pair of wins in NSW State Basketball League action at the weekend.

Whitby racked up 32 as the Breakers hammered Tamworth 88-51 on Saturday, then less than 24 hours later the star swingman buried Armidale with a career-high 50 points in a 109-48 walkover.

Coach Marty Smith was ‘bloody stoked’ with the way his team combined to release their main men on offence.

“It wasn’t a matter of James just taking the ball and putting up all the shots,” Smith said.

“He was on the end of some really good play – the team worked great together.”

Next up the Vikings at Grafton on Saturday.
