Whales to host Evans first 10s

THE 2010 rugby season will start on the right boot for the Evans River Killer Whales when they host the inaugural Village competition Rugby 10s tournament.

A new team from Murwillumbah will take the Village competition to eight teams.

The 10s will be a one-day event at Stan Payne Oval, Evans Head, on March 13 with all eight teams from the Village competition planning to compete.

Drinks and food will be available at the ground, with the first game kicking off about 9am.

Training for the regular season and 10s competition has already started for the Killer Whales – on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6.30pm at Stan Payne Oval.

Anyone interested in playing or being part of Evans River Rugby should contact club president Jeff Davey on 0432-765851.

Evans River Rugby is also looking forward to another great season for their junior teams whose competition is played on Friday nights and caters for under-8s, -10s, -12s and possibly an under-14 side this year.
