Whales frolic in stunning drone footage

UPDATE 3.15pm: DRONE filmmaker Tom Papworth, who captured this stunning video of whales at Boulder Beach yesterday, has said droning has allowed him to appreciate the natural beauty of the Northern Rivers.

"Droning encourages me to go out and explore," the local man said.

"It's a great way to capture the diverse scenery of our local area and enables people to gain a whole new perspective towards various sights and landmarks.

"I enjoy sharing my footage on a worldwide stage and showcasing just how lucky we are to be living in such an amazing part of the world."

Mr Papworth also said that droning has opened up new opportunities to document whales and other marine wildlife in a very non-intrusive manner, as seen in his latest video.

Mr Papworth also uses his Instagram account OutDroning to document his adventures, as well as his YouTube channel.

MONDAY 2pm: NORTHERN Rivers drone and video enthusiast Tom Papworth has been at it again, capturing stunning footage across our region - and capturing a special sight while he's at it.

Mr Papworth's latest video features footage of whales just off Boulder Beach at Skennars Head yesterday.

The three minute video not only showcases our gorgeous coastline, but shows the whales, an adult whale and what seems to be a baby whale, frolicking in the ocean.

Mr Papworth has previously shot a number of drone videos across the Northern Rivers for his growing YouTube channel, at locations such as Byron Bay Lighthouse, Shelly Beach, Pinnacle Lookout, Rocky Creek Dam, Bexhill Quarry, and Nimbin Rocks, among others.
