Whale activists protest Japanese

REPRESENTATIVES from Sea Shepherd, Ocean Activists United, Byron Whale Action Group and Taaji Action Dolphin Group converged on the Japanese Consulate in Brisbane today at 11am.

They presented a letter to the Japanese Consulate expressing their concerns and demanded Japan stop whaling immediately.

"The next few days are critical for the worlds whales. We have been sold a lie by Japan and other countries supporting Japan that this compromise deal currently being secretly work out behind closed doors at the International Whaling Commission (IWC)in Morocco will save whales," Byron Whale Action Group spokesperson, Dean Jefferys said.

"What this deal will really mean is that it will overturn the 24 year moratorium on commercial whaling and legalize the murder of tens of thousands of whales into the future."
