WESTPAC has increased its support of the local life saver rescue helicopter service 'significantly' as part of a new three-year commitment, signed this morning.

The increased sponsorship coincides with the 20-year anniversary of Westpac's sponsorship of the helicopter service.

The exact monetary amount of the deal could not be disclosed due to commercial confidentiality but Graham Orams from the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter Service is very pleased.

"This partnership and sponsorship from Westpac has been raised significantly," he said.

The Northern Region helicopter service, with a base in Lismore, has conducted more than 6000 missions over the past 20 years, attending car crashes, completing hospital transfers and conducting search and rescue operations.
