Alleged bikie enforcer cries and begs to be given bail

AN ALLEGED bikie enforcer from Yeppoon who cried in court and begged to be released from jail will have to wait another week for his bail application to be heard.

Anthony James Parry, who faces a quarter of a century in jail for alleged extortion, sobbed throughout his bail hearing earlier this week before it was adjourned so he could seek legal advice and representation.

Premier Campbell Newman described Parry's tears in court as "crocodile tears" and made no apologies for the tough conditions alleged bikies were facing in jail.

Parry, who appeared via videolink from Arthur Gorrie Correctional Centre, had his second tilt for freedom heard on Thursday (Jan 16) in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.

However, Parry decided to have this application adjourned for a further week after he was told his Legal Aid application had not yet been processed.

Chief Magistrate Tim Carmody recommended Parry not proceed with his bail application until he had sought legal advice.

Magistrate Carmody adjourned the matter until February 23 at 2.30pm.
